Default Demographic Data in Your Results
Pollfish automatically includes a set of default demographic data for every respondent in your survey results, at no extra cost.
Our Standard Demographic data helps you gain valuable insights without having to add separate demographic questions to your questionnaire or by using filters.
⇒Which Demographics Are Included by Default Globally?
By default, Pollfish collects the following standard demographics for all respondents, globally:
- Age
- Gender
- Country
You’ll find these marked with an info icon (ⓘ) in the Audiences tab of your survey setup.
During checkout, you will receive a notification (refer to the image below) that confirms the demographics automatically included:
⇒Country-Specific Demographic Enhancements
In addition to the global default demographics, we also collect enhanced demographic attributes in specific countries. For example, in the United States, the following data points are also available by default:
- Age
- Gender
- Language Spoken
- Household Income
- Age & Gender of Children
- Parental Status
- Employment
- Education
- Race
- Ethnicity(Simplified)
- US State
- US Division
- US DMA
- US Region
- US Statistical Area (CBSA)
- US County Zip Code/Postal Code
- US state
To see the list for any country, simply add that country to your Audience Page. There is an info icon next to each demographic we provide by default.
⇒Best Practice: Built-in Demographic filters
We recommend not adding separate demographic questions to your Questionnaire. Here’s why:
- It takes up valuable question space
- It can confuse respondents by asking for the same info twice
Pollfish already collects core demographic data for each respondent, and it’s automatically available in your results—no need to ask again.
Just a heads-up: if you do decide to include your own demographic questions, we won’t show that same info in the default data to avoid duplication and keep things smooth for respondents. You can reach out to our team in the live chat if you have any questions.
Adding More Demographics
If you'd like to access more demographics, you can easily include them by selecting the associated targeting criteria in the Audiences tab and selecting every available option.
These targeting selections will:
- Filter your audience (if you select specific subcategories)
- Be included in your data set
- Show up as part of each respondent’s profile in your results
